F.R.A. Bitless Sidepull bridle Shango

F.R.A. bitless system 3: bitless harnesses are not new! For centuries a bitless harness was taken for granted, before it was ever thought of putting something in the horse's mouth man simply put something around it. A rope as a halter was sufficient in those days and thus the first bitless optoming came into being. In combination with the supporting weight, leg and feel aids, the rider's hand maintains contact via the reins, not with the mouth, but with the horse's head. Principle of operation: pressure on the nose and cheeks, direct rein action. Construction: In system 3 we can classify the F.R.A.® sidepull and the various F.R.A.® button halsters. Sidepull: The leather noseband of this simple bridle ends on both cheeks in a ring to which the chin strap and the buckle are attached. The reins are attached to a second ring in the same place, which refines the handling of the reins. A small leather strap connects the noseband to the cheekpiece at an angle, holding it in place and allowing the rider to apply pressure to the cheek.
Rope knot halters: Rope knot halters come in many varieties and designs, the F.R.A.® nh rope knot halters are characterized by a multitude of sizes in the thicknesses 6, 7 and 8mm. Besides a basic version, the Babia, in 3 sizes you will find a 6mm version, the Capal, in 5 sizes and a 7mm version, the Pablo, in 3 sizes. The latter two versions are equipped with a nubuck and leather neck and nose protection respectively and are aimed at professional use. The size of a button halter is very important. The halter must fit the horse's head correctly and without too much play. Position: As with all bitless harnesses, the sidepull and the button halter must be positioned on the hard part of the nose, approximately where the nasal bone begins. The chin strap of the sidepull version may feel 'too' tight, but definitely not tightened. This is to prevent twisting of the bridle. Sidepull: Literally translated, the word sidepull means "to pull sideways". This is what this bridle does, bringing the hand away from the neck (opening) has the effect that the combination of the connection from the buckle to the noseband via both straps and ring puts pressure on the opposite cheek: turns. Asking for the rein (stops) has a discriminating effect of applying pressure to the nose, resulting in changes of tempo and either halting. This of course in combination with other supporting aids. The bridle lends itself for normal lunging only with the use of lunging goggles. The lunge-glasses are hooked in the rings where normally the reins are attached. Rope knot halter: Broadly speaking, the effects described under sidepull also apply to the rope knot halters. It can be said that the low, central attachment of the reins greatly benefits the discriminating effect of the aids given. Knotted halters do not lend themselves to lunging. Suitability: The sidepull and the rope halters are, due to the direct impact, very good and simple halters for both rider and horse. They are used in combination with light rein contact and are very suitable for sensitive horses. Therefore, the bridle is particularly suitable for young horses and sensitive animals. The bridle is also very suitable for the correction of 'spoiled' horses with fear of the rider's hand. The simplicity of the bridle also makes it suitable for the beginning rider. Finally, the bridles give fine possibilities for outdoor, pulling and long distance riding. All bridles of system 3 can also be used as a halter.
